Marriage Counseling, Trauma Counseling & Psychiatric Care
Serving the Greater Nashville Area
Our world changed in the winter of 2020. Even the most resilient individuals acknowledge that COVID, quarantining, death, isolation, growing social and political tensions are all taking a toll. Change is happening faster than the time it has taken to click on this page.
We don't have all the answers, but we know know that adaptability has limits with our ability to process it all. For the first time, symptoms of depression and anxiety are emerging in those who have never had any difficulties adjusting. For those who have struggled in the past, these times have weighed more heavily than anyone would have expected.
While we may not be able to right injustice, eradicate the virus or open up the economy, we are committed to walking with you through these very tumultuous times when you need someone to go the extra mile.
Middle Tennessee has been no exception to hardships faced in this difficult season of our history. The Pratt Clinic is now offering couples therapy, individual counseling for trauma, depression, and anxiety and psychiatric care in the Brentwood, Nolensville, Franklin and greater Nashville area. We are conveniently located in the Cool Springs area at 1604 Westgate Circle, Brentwood, TN 37027 and offer telehealth psychotherapy and medication management from the convenience of your own home, office or even your vehicle! It's really easy. Just click the BRENTWOOD REQUEST APPOINTMENT and follow the prompts. We look forward to seeing you and serving you!
PEPPER PRATT, PHD
Pepper has Middle Tennessee roots from way back. Kind of random fact: dating a few generations ago, Dr. Pratt's mother's side of the family is connected to Rachel Donelson by marriage. Oh yeah, Donelsons, Andrew Jackson, big time. Other random fact-Dr. Pratt's uncle was Bear Bryant's defensive coordinator during those championship years! That's not Middle Tennessee related, but still pretty cool. Pepper is a loyal Vols fan.
Alright, back to counseling. In addition to two masters degrees (University of Memphis and Southern Seminary), Pepper earned a PhD in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary. His doctoral work centered on the study of romantic love from a Biblical perspective.
In more recent years, Dr. Pratt has focused on trauma work and couples therapy. In addition to certifications in EMDR, Pepper has completed Level 2 Certificate from the Allender Center at the Seattle School of Psychology and Theology in Narrative Therapy.
His training in couples therapy has been with the Gottman Institute, completing Level 3 trainings and is nearly finished with the Certification track. Gottman Method is the state of the art in the science of love and healthy relationships.
Dr. Pratt has also had training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) with a certificate of completion of the Externship at the EFT Center of New Jersey. This specialty helps couples to move out of destructive dances and toward new intimacy that brings safety and secure attachment.
KAREN PRATT, MSN, APRN-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Karen is no stranger to Middle Tennessee. In 2005, she earned a masters degree from Vanderbilt University in psychiatric mental health nursing. Since then, she has practiced all over the nation--Montana, Minnesota, Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee--in forensic psychiatry, community mental health and private practice.
Karen is very thorough and has been able to help clients with a wide range of problems, but especially with depression, anxiety and problems of childhood and adolescence.
Random fact: Karen has recently developed quite a knack for fly-fishing and kayak fishing. She has fished the Colorado River in Colorado, the Little Red and the White Rivers in Arkansas. Nothing thrills her more than a float down the Ocoee! Oh, and ask her to tell you the story of her first time kayak fishing.
PEPPER & KAREN
Pepper and Karen have been married since 1987 and have two amazing sons who are married to incredible women and one Squiggle Wiggle (grand baby).
They currently split time between Brentwood and Humboldt, TN with their Golden Doodle and love to be with their kids, travel, fish and look at water.
Pepper has taught on marriage and family issues locally and internationally and has authored two books:
We're Just Talking--a biblical manual for romantic love for teens and
Hope for the Hurting--dealing with the problem of suffering.
