Our world changed in the winter of 2020.  Even the most resilient individuals acknowledge that COVID, quarantining, death, isolation, growing social and political tensions are all taking a toll.  Change is happening faster than the time it has taken to click on this page.  We don't have all the answers, but we know know that adaptability has limits with our ability to process it all.  For the first time, symptoms of depression and anxiety are emerging in those who have never had any difficulties adjusting.  For those who have struggled in the past, these times have weighed more heavily than anyone would have expected.  While we may not be able to right injustice, eradicate the virus or open up the economy, we are committed to walking with you through these very tumultuous times when you need someone to go the extra mile.

Licensed Professional Counselor/MHSP

Pepper specializes in helping with psychological trauma and couples therapy.  He has Level II Certification with the Allender Center in Narrative Therapy, advanced training in EMDR in helping individuals.  

His couples training includes  being Level III Trained at the Gottman Institute in couples therapy. Dr. Pratt has also had training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) with a certificate of completion of the Externship at the EFT Center of New Jersey. This specialty helps couples to move out of destructive dances and toward new intimacy that brings safety and secure attachment.    


He is a graduate of Union University, (BS),  The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MA), University of Memphis (MS) and Trinity Theological Seminary (PhD).  Pepper loves health and fitness and is a Certified Primal Health Coach.  For fun, Dr. Pratt enjoys golf and fly fishing 


Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Karen is a Vanderbilt trained psychiatric nurse practitioner who has practiced since 2005 in community mental health and private practice.  She has traveled the country working in state mental health hospitals in Montana, Minnesota, Kentucky and Georgia.  This breadth of experience benefits you.

Licensed Professional Counselor/MHSP

Jennie Haywood, LPC-MHSP graduated with a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida.  She has previously worked in child welfare services and community mental health. She began working in private practice in August 2011. Working in private practice is her realized dream. She enjoys helping others to find and realize their own life ambitions. Jennie sees individuals, couples, families, and children ages 5 and up, and offers professional therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness skills, systemic theories, and sand tray therapy.



Marriage and Family Therapist

Laura Freeman is a native of Dallas, Texas and recently relocated to Jackson with with her husband Jared. Laura has her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University and undergrad from Ouachita Baptist University. She works with children, teens, adults, families and couples. Laura’s focus in therapy is to provide a welcoming space where every person, regardless of what brings them in for counseling, feels safe unpacking their "stuff" throughout the therapeutic process. 

Currently, Laura is available by telehealth only.  She is not holding in-person visits.

Couples Therapist/Pastoral Counselor

Will specializes in marriage therapy and story work with individuals.  He has worked with people for over two decades and has counseled through a range of issues such as marital conflict/marriage restoration, spiritual/relational issues, grief and loss, anxiety, sexual identity and sexual addiction.  

Will received his undergrad in Counseling Theory from the University of Montevallo and has a Masters Degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.  He is both Level 1 and Level II Trained in the Gottman Institute in couples therapy, he has extensive training from the Allender Center in narrative therapy, and additionally has specialized training with Christian Counselor and psychologist, Dr. Larry Crabb.  Will has been married for 22 year and has three daughters. 


Licensed Masters Social Worker

Debbie Bellinghausen (MSW) graduate of Union University with a masters in Social Work.  Debbie also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Bible College and Seminary in Newburg, Indiana.  Debbie has spent the better part of 20 years leading and counseling women in her church and community through the challenges of life events.  More recently, she has worked with parents and adolescents who have become involved with the juvenile court system to navigate a path to healing and recovery.   Through her work she has walked with families in crisis assessing and preparing and advocating for a better future.   As a parent of two young adult children, Debbie recognizes the difficulties that today’s society can put on each of us and the future that we can have.


Kelli Barnes, Ed.D.

Behavior Analysis

Dr. Barnes is a behavior analyst, author, school consultant, and former special educator.  In 2003, she was trained in Discrete Trial Training, Picture Exchange System, and served on a preschool assessment team in Orange County, California, working extensively with students on the autism spectrum scale. With over 18 years of experience, Dr. Barnes currently specializes in training staff, working with parents, administering functional behavior assessments, and creating behavior intervention plans for children who demonstrate socially unacceptable behaviors. Dr. Barnes works with all children, but is most-experienced with students who have emotional, behavioral, or cognitive disabilities, anxiety disorders, or autism. Her particular interest is to serve these children and families by combining behavioral interventions with a comprehensive knowledge of best practices for those with complex social and learning needs both in schools and in the home.


She holds a BS in Special Education and a master’s degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism from Austin Peay State University. Dr. Barnes received her education specialist degree as well as her doctoral degree from Union University, earning highest honors in her field as a member of Kappa Delta Pi.  Dr. Barnes regularly presents on behavioral interventions and is an active researcher. 


In her free time, Dr. Barnes can be found reading, running, playing tennis, or spending time with her family at the river. 



The Pratts of The Pratt Clinic

Pepper and Karen have been married since 1987 and have two amazing sons who are married to incredible women and one Squiggle Wiggle (grand baby). 

They currently live near Humboldt, TN with their Golden Doodle and love to be with their kids, travel, fish and look at water.  

Pepper has taught on marriage and family issues locally and internationally and has authored two books:

We're Just Talking--a biblical manual for romantic love for teens and Hope for the Hurting--dealing with the problem of suffering.  Both books available on Amazon. He is currently working on a new book with a working title of Storybook Parenting.
